The Twin Cities area has long been known for its seamless blend of urban and natural beauty, and residents live their lives among beautiful landscapes. But, beyond being nice to look at, these stretches of green space have cultural significance as well.
In “The Modern Architectural Landscape,” architecture professor Caroline Constant interprets the world and society’s place in it by analyzing the progression of landscape architecture in Europe and the United States from 1915 to the mid-1980s.
Here’s a sneak peak of a few landscapes she explores in her new book.

From the sneak peek it looks like this book is fascinating and insightful — got to go look at it! As a (former) architectural photographer I was frequently amazed by how clueless architects were about the surroundings of the buildings they’d designed. I’m looking to see some good examples in the book!

I can’t wait to see a copy — the description and preview photos caught my attention! It appears to be just the type of book my daughter (an architecture grad who, BTW, is still looking for an internship/job in the field) will love. Think I’ll add it to my list of things to gift her with!
